Jacob Heinkel

Industrial Design Intern

Jacob Heinkel is an Industrial Design student based in Phoenix, Arizona with a background in fine arts with specialties in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Growing up in the Sonoran desert, Jacob has developed a unique appreciation for the environment and what it can offer and implements this into his design and art practice.

Throughout his student career he has gained experience in design research within topics like circular manufacturing and climate change and seeks to alter the relationship between humans and the environment through product design and interdisciplinary mediums. Additionally, Jacob has experience in laser cutting and ceramic product fabrication and develops hand-made luxury products for local designers.

When Jacob isn’t in the design studio or research lab, he is writing for a local Arizona magazine covering topics like poetry, fashion, and art alongside a collective of artists and writers. Most weekends you’ll find him at cozy cafes chatting with friends about books and music and finding underground techno shows and the best sushi spots around.
