Exergen wanted the packaging to show their commitment to quality. They wanted to capture the consumer in the aisle as they were deciding as to which thermometer to purchase.

Consumer Confessions: What Really Matters in a Thermometer?

To get to the heart of what consumers are looking for, we started with some detective work. Our small-scale research study dove into real people’s thermometer choices. Why did they pick one model over another? What features and messaging were most important?

Next, we scoped out the competition, studying thermometer packaging in stores and online. We didn’t stop there; we also looked at best-in-class packaging in other related product categories. This gave us valuable insights and helped shape the goals for Exergen’s packaging refresh.

  • User-Friendly Guides: Thermometers should be easy to use, so we made sure the instructions were clear and consistent with the product’s actual usage.
